What can you tell me about Chase and their credit cards?
Chase, or more formally known as JPMorgan Chase Bank, is a massive banking institution with roots in the United States but now reaches around the world. Though most banks of this caliber have been around for practically a century, Chase isn’t even fifteen years old, although saying that is a little misleading since it was originally created as the Bank of Manhattan at the end of the 18th century. Yes, I wrote that correctly, they started as far back as the 1700s. As a bank, they offer their customers all of the services that you would expect from a bank, including loans, mortgages, checking, savings, leases business services and much, much more.
The credit cards offered by Chase are relatively standard bank fare and they come in a variety of flavors (i.e. MasterCard, Visa, etc), and those are what we will be discussing today. I would also like to point out that Chase may manage a number of your store credit cards, but those cards aren’t applicable (as far as I know?) to what I’m discussing in this article.
I recently got a credit card from them in the mail, how do I activate it online?
- Make your way on over to www.chase.com/verifycard
- Enter your user ID and password
- Click “Remember Me” to have your user name stored for later visits (as I apparently have done previously as my user ID is displayed in the below image)
- Click the “Log In to Accounts” button
- Upon logging in from this page, you will be asked to enter some information straight from your card, do so
- Submit your card verification
- Go spend monies!
So I need an online login to activate it? How do I make an account?
Either head to the web address that I linked to in the last question and click the “Enroll Now” button there or make your way to www.chase.com then mouse over the “Log In or Enroll” tab and select the link that says “New To Chase Online? Enroll in Chase Online” then just go through the prompts to create your account. Take note that you’ll need at least one account or card number to complete this action. However, I am unsure of whether you can do this with an non-activated card or not.
Are there any other ways to activate a Chase credit card other than going online?
Yeah, if I remember correctly, there should be a little easy-to-peel sticker on the card when you receive it that has a phone number printed on it. Call that number and use the audio prompts to activate the card. Alternately, you should be able to just use the card at an ATM machine or debit payment and that will activate it as well.
